Oman’s Asyad Shipping has been tipped to be the company booking four VLCC newbuilds at Hanwha Ocean.

Multiple brokers have placed the Omani owner behind the recently divulged deal by the South Korean shipbuilder worth around $520m, with deliveries set for 2026 and the first quarter of 2027.

Asyad boasts a fleet of more than 40 owned ships, with about 10 VLCCs mostly built in South Korea. The Middle Eastern owner was tipped by brokers last month for two 320,000 dwt scrubber-fitted VLCC berths at Hanwha at about $128m each.

Oman’s state-controlled logistics giant Asyad Group, which also booked LNG carriers for construction in South Korea, is reportedly planning to float its shipping arm by the end of the year.
