The Advantage Sweet, a suezmax tanker apprehended by the Iranian military in April 2023, is on the move.

VesselFinder data shows the ship departed Iranian waters yesterday and is currently heading south into the Arabian Sea.

The ship, owned by a Chinese leasing company, was on charter to Chevron when it was abducted 442 days ago.

There has been no official statement from either Iran or the charterer regarding the decision to move the vessel.

There are another five merchant ships being held in Iran with more than 80 seafarers unable to get to their homes for many months.
