US Infrastructure company WhiteWater has revealed that the ADCC Pipeline has commenced delivery of natural gas to Cheniere’s Corpus Christi LNG export terminal in Texas.
The 42in intrastate ADCC Pipeline, which spans approximately 40 miles, transports natural gas from Whistler Pipeline’s Agua Dulce Header to Cheniere’s Corpus Christi liquefaction facility.
The ADCC Pipeline is 70% owned by Whistler Pipeline, a joint venture of WhiteWater (50.6%), Marathon Petroleum subsidiary MPLX LP (30.4%) and Enbridge (19.0%).
It is also backed by a 30% stake from a wholly owned subsidiary of Cheniere Energy.
The ADCC Pipeline can transport approximately 1.7 billion cubic feet per day (bcf/d) of natural gas to the Cheniere Corpus Christi liquefaction facility from markets on Whistler Pipeline’s Agua Dulce Header in South Texas.
WhiteWater said in a statement on Friday that by improving the natural gas infrastructure in Texas, the ADCC Pipeline creates new demand for Permian gas, helping to reduce the amount of gas flared in the Permian Basin.
This also supports the increase of US LNG exports to international markets, it said.
According to the statement, the US will export a record 12.2bcf/d of natural gas this year. It became the world’s biggest LNG supplier in 2023 and has stayed ahead of recent leaders Australia and Qatar.
Offshore Technology reported in March that the US was responsible for almost half of the EU’s and the UK’s LNG imports in 2023, solidifying its position as the largest supplier for the third consecutive year.
When compared with other continents, the US supplied the highest volume of LNG to Europe. In 2021, the US contributed 2.4bcf/d, making up 27% of total European LNG imports.
According to the US Energy Information Agency, US exports increased to 44% (6.5bcf/d) in 2022 and 48% (7.1bcf/d) in 2023.
