Sixteen crew are feared to have perished after a small tanker capsized off Oman on Monday.

Search and rescue operations to find the 13 Indians and three Sri Lankans who were onboard the 7,056 dwt, Comoros-flagged Prestige Falcon have thus far been unsuccessful.

The vessel had been headed for the Yemeni port city of Aden, according to MarineTraffic, having departed from Dubai.

There has been no indication that the 17-year-old tanker was caught up in the ongoing military campaign led by the Houthis against merchant shipping in the region.
