Jiangsu Ocean Shipping (JOSCO) has contracted Nantong COSCO KHI Ship Engineering (NACKS), a subsidiary of COSCO Shipping Heavy Industry, for two kamsarmax bulk carrier newbuilds.

The landmark order for Jiangsu Port Group’s shipping arm, mostly active in the supramax and ultramax segments, will see the newbuilds delivered in 2026 and 2027.

No price has been divulged for the 82,000 dwt brace, but newbuilding sources estimated similar tonnage at Chinese yards north of $37m.

The order marks JOSCO’s return to NACKS after signing up for a pair of ultramaxes in late 2020 and follows on from a recent deal for four 63,500 dwt newbuilds at reborn Sainty Shipbuilding, which has also picked up orders from Greece’s Sea Traders and China Development Bank Leasing.
