The Energy Secretary has reportedly approved the construction of wind turbines in the UK that can be more than twice the height of Big Ben.
This decision, reported by the Daily Telegraph, removes the previous height restrictions and ends the ban on onshore wind farms in the English countryside.
According to the report, turbines up to 850 feet tall can now be built, surpassing London‘s Gherkin.
However, ELN understands that although there is no national limit on turbine height, planning policies will still consider impacts on landscapes, public rights of way and local heritage.
