Vietnamese shipowner Asia Pacific Shipping (ASP) is set to bolster its tanker fleet with 12 newbuildings added to the orderbook at Chinese yards.

The Hanoi-headquartered outfit has spread the orders across Dalian Shipbuilding Industry Corporation (DSIC), Shanghai Waigaoqiao Shipbuilding (SWS), and Wuhu Shipyard.

Shipbuilding sources report DSIC has been commissioned to build eight 115,000 dwt units costing around $70m each, with delivery starting in 2027, while Wuhu has secured a deal for two additional 25,900 dwt stainless steel tankers and now has six newbuilds scheduled for delivery to ASP in 2027.

Meanwhile, the company also confirmed ordering two 114,000 dwt aframax tankers at SWS with delivery set for 2027.

Asia Pacific Shipping was established in 2021 and today owns and operates a diversified fleet of nearly 30 ships in the tanker, dry bulk, and gas carrier segments. The company has been on an impressive newbuilding drive since last year, with a number of ships booked at multiple Chinese yards. It also has two MR2 tankers being built at K Shipbuilding in South Korea for delivery in 2026 and 2027.
