Samsung Heavy said on Thursday that it will build the LNG carrier for an unidentified owner in Asia.

The shipbuilder will deliver the LNG carrier by June 2027.

The order has a price tag of 358.2 billion won or about $259 million.

Samsung Heavy did not provide any additional information regarding the contract.

Shipbuilding sources told LNG Prime that Japan’s K Line is behind this order for one 174,000-cbm LNG carrier.

Sources first said that interests associated with JP Morgan could be behind this order.

It appears that JP Morgan is also expected to place an LNG carrier order in South Korea.

Including this contract, Samsung Heavy has won orders for a total of 25 ships, including 22 LNG carriers, worth $5.6 billion this year.

The shipbuilder achieved 58 percent of its annual order target of $9.7 billion.

Samsung Heavy recently won an order from Malaysia’s MISC for two 174,000-cbm LNG carriers worth $514 million or about $257 million per vessel.

Moreover, the shipbuilder also secured an order from Adnoc Logistics & Services, a unit of UAE’s energy giant Adnoc, to build four LNG carriers and an order to build Cedar FLNG.

In February, Samsung Heavy won a contract to build 15 LNG carriers under the giant QatarEnergy shipbuilding program.
