Stena Drilling, the Aberdeen-based business of Sweden’s Stena, has won a contract for one of its drillships with subsidiaries of Shell in Suriname.
The contract for the campaign was awarded to the 2008-built Stena DrillMax drillship by Shell subsidiaries KE STP Company and BG International.
The deal is expected to begin in the second half of the year, and it will comprise two firm wells and two optional wells.
The sixth-generation harsh environment drillship won a contract for work off Suriname from TotalEnergies in January this year.
The managed pressure drilling-equipped unit is set to be deployed on a one-well exploration campaign during the second quarter of 2025.
