French-based engineering and technology company Technip Energies has been awarded a detailed engineering design contract for QatarEnergy LNG’s North Field production sustainability offshore compression project.

The contract was awarded by the hydrocarbon arm of Indian engineering conglomerate Larsen & Toubro, which won the deal to work on the North Field project last month. It is considered the largest single contract ever received by the conglomerate.

The contract awarded to Technip Energies comes after the completion of the FEED phase. The French firm will provide detailed engineering design for two offshore compression complexes. Each will comprise large offshore platforms, flare platforms, interconnected bridges, and other associated structures.

The financial details were not revealed, but Technip Energies did say that the contract was significant, placing it in the €50m to €250m ($57m to $285m) range. This award was recorded in the first quarter of 2025 in the technology, products, and services segment.
